Elena Kathryn Mistishen, 14, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021. She was a freshman at Bishop McDevitt High School and attended St. Margaret Mary School. Elena was born on Valentine's Day in 2007 at Holy Spirit Hospital during an ice storm.

Elena was an avid reader and especially loved anime. She appreciated musicals, music in general, and was a diligent piano student. She also loved playing online video games with her siblings and friends. As an animal lover, Elena was fond of her sister's cat. When her older siblings were on the swim team and marching band, she became the unofficial mascot for the Wedgewood Hills Whales swim team and Bishop McDevitt Crusader Marching Band.

Surviving are her parents, Nicholas G. and Gina (Pappalardo) Mistishen; sister, Emily Mistishen; brother, Anthony Mistishen; grandparents, Salvatore and Joanne Pappalardo of Reading, and Lillian Mistishen, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins. A Funeral Mass took place on Monday, December 20, 2021 at St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, 2800 Paxton Church Road, Harrisburg. Reverend Leo M. Goodman III officiated.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Elena's memory to either Bishop McDevitt High School or St. Margaret Mary School.
